We exist to drive competency and innovation in the delivery, improvement and development of housing and its components. The importance of “home” cannot be understated. It is that place to which we return at the end of a day. A place where we gather with those we love. A place where we re-charge. In 1993, I was in a leadership role of a homebuilding company that was selected as the inaugural winner of the National Housing Quality Award (NHQA). During this time, there was a push to be better. Most homebuilders were making an effort to improve the quality of the product they delivered.

Quality has progressed in the US automobile industry. Regrettably, it has declined in the new home development industry. We have experienced a decline in the numbers of available craftsman and in craftsmanship. Fit and finish continues to be a struggle. Commercial construction and design has significantly outpaced innovation in the residential sector. In commercial design, fit and finish is critical to the development of multi-level towers. In residential construction, there is no need to drive toward higher structures. Housing design is mostly satisfied with a status quo. We aren’t driven to improve the products we develop or sell. Sure, there has been change. There has been improvement. But, we can do better.
